Has anyone heard of Von Willebrand's Disease? Or now anyone who has it? |
I went to the doctor yesterday because of bleeding gums, nose bleeds, tingle in the fingers and other odd symptoms. He said he wanted to take a few blood tests and on the paper he wrote von willebrands disease. Does anyone have any experience with that disease? I would love to hear about it. I did look it up in a search- I just wanted to know if anyone has it, or know someone who has it and what the complications may be. DEFINITION It's a mad horse disease why dont you type it up in search...and see what comes up about it... Von Willebrand's disease is a bleeding disorder of the blood much like hemophilia. Bruising and bleeding from various parts of the body is common. It is a congenital disease. Von Willebrand factor is a protein in the blood that is necessary for clotting. It's a genetically inherited disease. It can be easily diagnosed with appropriate blood tests, like PT/PTT/INR. Von Willebrand disease is the most common hereditary bleeding disorder.Medications such as desamino-8-arginine vasopressin (DDAVP) can be given to raise the levels of Von Willebrand factor, which will reduce the tendency toward bleeding. |

I *just* did a paper on vWD! It is not hemophilia, you cant bleed to death, especially w/ Type 1, so I don't know why you were turned down. As long as you take your DDAVP when they tell you to... i have it. it's fine to drink alcohol. the only warnings my doctors have given me is to not use any blood thining medication, so basically only use tylenol. alcohol has no affect on the disord... A lady I worked with had both and had a successful pregnancy and birth. Her son was born healthy, two weeks early and beautiful. He has no medical problems. She was put onto shots of some sort and ... No, I've not had this problem but I would recommend getting back in touch with your doctor's office and ask to speak to the nurse to find out if the doctor has an answer yet on the estrog...
