Can you get a tummy tuck when you have type 1 Von Willebrand disease?

I am really interested in getting a tummy tuck procedure done, but in 2003 I was diagnosed with Von Willebrand disease the least severe kind type 1, so I have tried to research and see if it is possible, but haven't been able to find much, and I contacted a doctor that turned me down because of this so I just wanted to know if anyone had any info for me? Please give me some feed back!

I *just* did a paper on vWD! It is not hemophilia, you cant bleed to death, especially w/ Type 1, so I don't know why you were turned down. As long as you take your DDAVP when they tell you to for the surgery(its different for type of Sx and doc) ie taken before, they give during, or you take after. Umm let me pull out my sources list here.....its just vWD info, but it may help you state your case. I'll put some down in 'Sources'.

Hope it helps!

**edit**PS it looks like it is not making them links, if you want the whole address just email me. The link is in my profile!

Her research was wrong. You can bleed to death with Type 1. I have type 1. my entire body volume of blood had to be transfused with hemopure. You should consider a surgeon specializng in blood disorder patients. Also, you cannot donate your own blood for surgery. Report It
