Centrum A to Zinc Mutivitamin/Multimineral... bad for your back?

I never rough house and play sports BUT I always sit on the computer half day and never have back problems but then i started taking centrum A to Zinc and with in 3 days my back is hurting could there be something bad about these supplements

oh and also I'm 15 years old and i'm 6 feet tall and weight about 150... if this matters any i dont think it would

I take one centrum a day like said

so whats my problem

I'm not a man, but I can tell you the Centrum is not the problem. Yes, you can have health problems if you take an excessive about of non-water soluble vitamins, but 1 Centrum a day is completely safe, and in fact may give you too little of some minor vitamins. If you eat a healthy diet, it will be fine. If you DON'T eat healthily, you may want to talk to your dr. about additional supplements if you don't get enough of something. For instance, I need to take an additional iron supplement because I have iron deficiency anemia, and I need to take a calcium supplement because for some reason my body partially blocks the absorption of calcium and I don't get enough even with a separate calcium supplement. Moving on to the back problem....

You stated you sit at the computer 1/2 the day and I'm guessing the problem is bad posture at the computer. Do you slouch? Hunch your shoulders forward? (think of pictures/drawings of cavemen, but not necessarily to that extreme! hehe) Take notice of your posture at the computer, are you sitting up straight, shoulders back? You should be, so if you aren't, do that. Try some back strengthening/core strengthening exercises in the sources. You will probably notice a change for the better in a few weeks.

Oh, also, where is the pain? if the pain is in the triangular area from your shoulders down to between your shoulder blades, the angle of your neck could be the problem. If you have to look down at your screen, it puts lots of stress on those muscles, and if that is the case, try raising the monitor because your eyes should be looking straight forward, maybe put a phone book or block of wood the size of a phone book underneath and see if that helps within a few weeks.

Hope this all helps you.

P.S. as far as what Electric_Napalm said about urinating any extra vitamins you take, that's only true for water soluble vitamins. But even if you take too much of a vitamin, it would have to be a pretty excessive amount of an overdose before it had an adverse reaction. For instace, with Vitamin A, the RDA is 5,000 IU (Centrum has 3500 IU), but you can take 10,000 IU safely. If you exceed 10,000 IU, it could lead to blindness (ironic since Vitamin A and the beta carotene within it promote good eye sight!), increased chances of lung cancer, and even in rare cases of EXTREME amounts of vitamin A, death and for a pregnant woman could lead to birth defects, but this is excessive amounts, and Centrum has just over 1/2 the RDA, but these things happen after twice the amound of the RDA. It is important not to take multivitamins that have more than 100% of the RDA in them for this reason. On the other hand, water soluble vitamins such as Vitamin C are fine to take excess and Electric_Napalm is correct that with THESE type of vitamins (water soluble only), you will just urinate the excess.

I highly doubt that a simple multivitamin would affect your back at all. Most likely a mere coincedence, and don't worry about any kind of dosage either as you'll just piss out any vitamins your body doesn't use

No.
You could have hurt it coughing or sneezing or from not sitting properly in front of your computer
