Is it harmful to take the supplement zinc?

Long story short: I smell (people have told me) and having great hygiene isn't enough for me. People have recommended zinc because it's supposed to help with body odor.

My questions:
Could something harmful happen to my body if I take zinc supplements?
How much should I take?

I'm assuming you'll be taking semi-normal doses of zinc.

Should be fine, but zinc does compete with copper uptake, so its often recommended to take 1 mg of copper for every 25 mg of zinc.

Along with the zinc supplements take Activated Charcoal and Chlorphyll (caps or tinture).
For the zinc which ever bottle you get off the shelf will tell how much to take a day.
