Where does Yersinia pestis occur NATURALLY....? |
does it just pop up in fleas? where does it originate? The resevoir for Y. pestis in the environment is rodents and the like. By bad luck, it can then be transferred by flea to something that's more likely to live around humans, and then to humans by fleas. As you can imagine, this is why naturally ocurring plague is not a huge health threat, but manmade plague is a security concern. fleas get it from rats. Rats get it from contaminated soil. Contaminated with what you say?....feces seems the logical guess. |
