Is yellow fever still alive today in the U.S.A, africa. europe,asia australia or anywhere,i am doing a project Yellow fever is caused by a virus passed on via mosquitos when they bite. It is caused by an organism called Flavividae. It is cause yellow fever because the destruction of red blood cells and the resulting jaundice make a person appear yellow. Yellow fever occurs only in Africa, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. It can occur in the Southern portions of the US, but it has been pretty rare. It is a type of hemorrhagic fever. Yes, in sub saharan africa.. not so much in Europe or US or asia even (well, possibly in southeast asia)... yes, but it is very rare. As far as I know - its passed by the aedes mosquito and its here in the caribbean (where i live). |
