Can i get in Ghana without a valid Yellow fever certificate?

Hi I fly to ghana in 11 days, but can't get an appointment for the nurse until the friday which would give me only 8 days protection.

Will they still let me in the country without the full 10 days protection?
I'm travelling from the UK if it helps.
Is there anywhere i can get emergency jabs from if i can't get an appointment sooner for the nurse at the surgery?

thanks in advance for any help given!!!

Ghana is in the endemic yellow fever zone in Africa and they require a valid yellow fever certificate for all travellers. As you know the certificate only becomes valid 10 days following vaccination. There are a large number of private travel clinics throughout the UK and they can usually give you a quick appointment. Try a search on www.yell.com for your area. Alternatively, one of the biggest travel clinic chains is MASTA here is their website, they have clinics all over the country -

I got jabs at heathrow surgery when I worked there.
Phone the airport and ask them.

Hi Ian,

Now you should still try to get your yellow fever vaccination asap, and bring your yellow card with you to Ghana. But truth be told, I can't think that last time that I had someone ask us for our immunization booklets. I live in Ghana (since January 2004), and have been in and out of the country (to the US), at least 10 times altogether since 1990, and only once did I have to present the booklet and I think that was in 1990.
