Repeat yeast infections?

someone in my family has been coming to me (a senior nursing student) looking for advice about recurrent yeast infections that she and her husband seem to be getting on a regular basis. She tells me that she is not wearing thongs/tight jeans, etc..., keeps herself clean and dry, and treats yeast infections thoroughly when she gets them. If the infection is passed to her husband, he is treated medically as well. She is eating lots of yogurt and has not started any new medications except for birth control, but that's been about 8 months ago.

What could be causing all of these recurrent infections? I feel so bad because it is definitely causing difficulty in their newlywed sex life.

They need to go to the doctor. Something is causing these infections, and treating them over-the-counter is not helping.

Some women get chronic yeast infections with the pill. She may want to try a pill with different hormones, or a different birth control method altogether.

Maybe they should have a doctors appointment together. (I assume they have different doctors.)

it's recommended that people with recurrent yeast infections shave their pubes and sleep without underwear

The best way to go is to find a natural cure... we've found some good information and remedies here:

its probably their underwear. washing them wont get rid of the infection. you're supposed to get them a lil wet, put them in a baggie, and mocrowave them. or just buy all new ones. happened to my mom before.
