Frequent Yeast Infections?

I've been having reoccurent yeast infections and I just went to my GYNO and I don't get the results until 2 weeks from now. I know the symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, dehydration, and reoccurrent yeast infections, and some other stuff...like bleeding gums. And I have all of these symptoms. I'm not quite sure why it keeps coming back....I just hope it's not Diabetes, although it does run in my family. Could I have it? I'm only 18.

Never heard of a 2-wk test for yeast. The dr. can tell right away sometimes just by the smell and all the vaginal itching. How are you equating diabetes with yeast infections? The dr. usually gives a sulfa drug by insertion like a vaginal suppository or tampon style. As a teenager I was plagued by different infections. Reasons can be:

1. The yeast infection is also known as candida albicans. This means that you are eating a great deal of foods that grow yeast like flour, vinegar, sugar, etc. You can look it up on the internet and find what foods you should avoid for a while. It can invade other organs if it goes too far. It can invade the uterine walls and cause endometriosis. Since regular penicillin-type antibiotics contribute to growth, other nonyeast producing antibiotics such as Nystatin help. Talk to your dr.

2. If you are sexually active, then you need to control your urges for some time. This infection is very contagious in that you contaminate your partner and he in turn recontaminates you. He needs to be treated as well. This is not an STD but it is one of those annoying little pass alongs that you can keep giving to each other. You can be all cleared up and he ignored the dr. and didn't go. So, the next time you do the nasty you get it all over again.

3. I have never heard of bleeding gums being a sign of diabetes. Freequent urination is. You need to adjust your diet it you are experiencing this. Some people use the bathroom every 15 minutes sometimes. The bad diet is high in sugar and other items that will still agravate a yeast condition whether or not you have diabetes.

Not trying to be insulting, but is there something else we are not hearing from you? If you think you are having trouble with a possible diabetes problem, why are you consulting a Gyn? You really need to see your primary care physician. If you address the diabetes, you will be in a better position to help clear up a large number of health issues: like headaches, moodiness, depression and crying, muddled thinking, light headedness, among others.

I have frequent yeast infections too! I don't understand it either. I have to make an appt. with my Gyno. Good luck to you...sorry I couldn't answer your question. I just wanted you to know you are not alone.

U COULD HAVE DIABETES...CUZ OF UR SYMPTOMS.. BUT U COULD GET A YEAST INFECTION JUST BY CHANGING UR SOAP, LAUNDRY DETERGENT,IF U USE ANY TYPE OF SPRAY DOWN THERE, IF U USE TIGHT PANTS, IF THE WATER HAS ANY CHANGES WHEN IT IS BEING CLEANED BEFORE COMING OUT UR PIPES.... THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT COULD CAUSE A YEAST... I WOULD SUGGEST TO USE COTTON PANTIES ONLY THEY HELP AND KEEP U DRYER AND STOP U FROM GETTING THEM SO OFTEN GOOD LUCK...

You should contact your doctor to have yourself tested for diabetes, or if you have no health insurance, you can test yourself.

If you are having frequent yeast infections, the easiest and quickest thing to eliminate is diabetes. You can get a cheap blood sugar testing kit, and test your blood sugar level daily, wait at least 2 hours after eating. If your glucose level is consistently high, it probably is diabetes.

If it is diabetes, you need to be treated. The yeast infection may go away, but believe it, it will return over and over agin until you get your glucose under control.
