Are yeast infections supposed to hurt this much?

I'm itchy and all like normal yeast infections cause, but I'm also in extreme pain "down there". It's swollen and it hurts just to put medicine on it. Is this normal for a yeast infection? This is my first one ever and I really don't know how to go about treating it with OTC meds.

You may also have a urinary tract infection, and TRUST ME those are things you want to start treating right away. They can be insanely painful and agonizing to deal with if you let it go untreated. go to the doctor they'll give you a quick urine test and be able to tell you right away if you have a urinary tract infection. if you do, you just get a simple pill that'll clear it all up in less than a week. dont leave it untreated. also until you can get to a doctor try this product called "azo" its a cranberry tablet that will help get rid of the bacteria that causes the UTI. you still need to go to the doctor though right away.

i recently had a yeast infection also.
you might want to use a Monistat cream and have your doctor prescribe you Fluconazole.

you should be cured soon.
yeast are horrible to have, i know...but you just gotta find the ways to get cured.

You might have something worse than a yeast infection. You need to see your doctor. It is possible if you are sexually active, or have been in the last few years that you may have picked up an STD, like Herpes. It can lay dormant for years before the inititial outbreak and they hurt like HE*L. Do you have a fever. This can also be a sign of Herpes along with open sores.

I recommend that you see a medical doctor so it can be properly diagnosed and not use OTC meds just yet. Being that this is your first one, you are not sure if this is truly a yeast infection. You do not want to make whatever it is worse or give it to your partner either.
