Are x-rays dangerous for children? |
My daughter, who was 2 at the time had 4 x-rays in the space of 5 months. The x-ray was of her front from neck to abdomin, and also her back. thankfuly her xray was fine but now i am worried about the side affects of these xrays, do you think it would have caused her any harm?what are the odds? ok the doctors hide from them and the flash is quick that way it does not hurt the person why the doctors exit the room is because they do it all day everyday and your child has the most 8second exposed while doctors get exposed to something among 30seconds a day if there in the room X-rays are only harmful in very large amounts. 4 wouldn't harm anything!! xxx the doctors wouldn't have put her through it if it was going to harm your daughter because if it was going to you could sue them x-rays aren't exactly healthy for u, as i'm sure u are aware, but if my child (who's 4) needed that many x-rays, i would trust the judgement of the doctors who deemed that treatment necessary for the well being of my child. i don't know the exact odds of whether or not it may have caused her any harm, but my bet is that it's a very tiny percentage. if u are worried, speak to a doctor. Nowhere near as much as they thought. Recent evidence is that small amounts of radiation are actually good for you, this was first noticed when Chernobyl began recovering much quicker than expected and has been borne out by statical analysis showing that States w. high natural and background radiation have much lower cancer rates. The maths and graphs on effects of radiation are being redrawn to show an initial drop in cancer incidents and a slower rate of climb over time than once thought, medical Xrays no problem. x-rays are bad for everyone, even with the lead vest thing... Have you ever had X-Rays before? Were they harmful to you??? Nope, and neither are they to her. She will be fine. The good thing is that modern high frequency X-rays use a lot less radiation than the old ones. to many can be bad but I'm sure you baby girl will be just fine did they cover her privet parts with a cover ? if not just make sure they do next time i don't think you have any thing to worry about She would haft to be exposed to the radiation in BIG amounts. The chances of her dying of an X-ray are 1 - 50. She is fine. dangerous for anyone... the less the better |
