Can X Rays make you infertile? |
I have had to take some x rays lately, and I was wondering if that would effect my fertility or the fertility of my fiance, who has also had to undergo some procedures involving x rays standard xrays have a very low radiation level. You should have been covered with a lead apron, skirt or small flat sheet - as would anyone else in the room during the exposure. This is a precautionary measure. The exposure is extremely low but with repeated and/or lasting exposure your fertility could be effected. It can effect a males sperm or a woman's ovum if he or she were exposed multiple times and/ or long exposure. But this is over years of daily exposure- this is why technicians wear the aprons or stand behind a lead shield. No x rays dont make u infertile actually. Yes am sure that ther some adverse effect on u. x-rays have a certain level of radiation. radiation can cause the genetic material in your body to change and that could mutate your ovum (eggs) and result in retardation, canser, and other deformities in a child. fortunately it would take a lot of x-rays to have the genetic information scrambled so you are probably fine. but still i would have your husband put some sperm in the deep freeze at a sperm bank because the same thing can happen to his sperm especially if he is going to get more x-rays. |
