How many dental x-rays can i take in a week?

I just took about 30 x-rays in a visit yesterday, I do not like the clinic and want to go elsewhere, so the new dentist will have to take x-rays again, is this safe?

You don't have to get your x-rays redone, just ask for your records and copies of your x-rays.

as long as you are wearing the lead jacket they lay on you, you should be fine. I wouldn't get more just have your old dentist forward your file to the new office so they can see the x-rays. It will save you a lot of money on dental copays and insurance costs.

just get a copy of your x-rays sent to the new office. Most offices will do this at no charge to you unless you owe them.

Just get the records from the first x-ray place. You bought them, they are yours. If they don't like it, just put up a fuss in the waiting room.

...30 xrays in one visit? are you exaggerating just a bit???

..no its not safe, ...i no longer get ANY xrays at the dentist, because they are not safe!...UNLESS there is big cause for concern....other than that, its a way, a big way for dentist to get money...and you do have the right to say 'no thanks".....
....

A full mouth series of xray's is about 18 film. If they made a lot of mistakes and had to take retakes, I hope it wasn't more than just a couple. You do have the right for a second opinion. If you don't want to request the xrays, have the new office do it. They may not give the originals, depends on the office policy. If they use Digital xrays it is very simple to copy and send. You can not have a balance at the office either.
As far as the safety of xrays. The film used today is much faster and therefore requires less radiation to produce the image. If they were digital xrays, then it is even faster than film. You get more radiation in a few hours of sunshine than with dental xrays. Of course you wouldn't want to take unnecessary x rays ever.
A dentist HAS to take xrays to be able to evaluate your mouth...We can not see through bone. Anyone who chooses NEVER to have xrays is only allowing a partial exam and the dentist can not be liable for any problems that occur....some will refuse to see you if you won't allow them to do their job properly.
If you aren't comfortable with your dentist....seek another. That is your right. Explain that you would rather not have to do all the xrays over so if they would request them from the dentist and call you when they have received them, then you can make your appointment. They need something for a complete exam. Be sure to have the number of the dentist ready to give them.

A full set of xrays is only 18 films, but it sure can feel like 30!

If you're unhappy with your dental office, you can certainly find a new one. Once you do, you can request that copies of your xrays and treatment record be released from Dentist #1 and be sent to Dentist #2. You'll need to sign a release form, allowing Dentist #2 to request them, if you don't want to do it yourself.

Good luck to you!

:)
