Should Chest X-Rays be Taken?

Someone goes to the Doctor with a Cough, Chest Congestion, and Tightness in the Chest. The Doctor just takes Blood Pressure, Temp., and listens to his Chest. The Doctor says they have Bronchitis with a little Fluid in the Lungs. He Prescribes them Antibiotics, an Inhaler, and Steroids. Should the Doctor also have X-rays taken?

It would be wise to do so, even if it's to rule out pneumonia.

Only in the case of severe rattling. When he listens to the different parts of your lungs, he is trained to know the sounds he's supposed to hear and which ones to take a closer look at.

no. They should be left at the hospital in case you have to return on the bus, and forget them.

yes that is how they tell if you have any problems with lungs and other things

Yes. Bronchitis can easily develop into Bronchial pneumonia , especially when you feel that unproductive "rattle" in your lungs when you cough.

yes having any type of cough needs Chest X-ray.

NOPE.

Not necessarily. If he is an experienced enough doctor, just auscultating your chest along with your other symptoms is enough for your Dr. to make that diagnosis.
