Full set of dental x-rays, about 20, how much radiation and risk? |
Old chest x-ray used to provide 15 Rems of radiation. The human body can tolerate only 50 Rems in a lifetime. Anything over causes later cancer. I have been blasted with x-rays already for a back operation, by physicians and chiropractors. I believe I have reached beyond my limit. Any input would be appreciated...icor15@verizon.net dental Xrays provide very little radiation. For a full mouth Xray set (18 x rays) it provides about as much radiation as maybe one day in the sunlight. A chest Xray provides 280 days worth of sunlight radiation. If you go to the dentist, you only need the full mouth series every 3-5 years. You get bitewings every year, which is a set of four xrays which help determine if there is decay in between the teeth. |
