Should I get X-Rays and an MRI done for tibial tuberosity that I have in both legs? |
I took a bone scan and it came out with results tibial tuberosity bilaterally. I could have fractues due to airborne school back in October of 06. I had one hard landing and my knees were bent as I hit the ground. Should I get X-Rays and/or MRI on them? If they are fractured how would you go about fixing them? It's been 9 months since airborne school and I'm always in pain and I have colapsed before recently because of my knee pain. Help me out please... Tibial tuberosity is a normal part of your anatomy (the bump on your leg just below you knee). If it shows up on a bone scan that means there is inflammation in the area which could indicate a fracture, arthritis. infection or other problem. X-Rays or MRI might help show what is going on. It is best to discuss it with your doctor. I would bet on stress fracture or arthritis give the amount of pressure you put on those bones during jump school Getting an MRI is probably best. It will be more definitive on whats going to with your knees. If they are fractured you may need surgery. Sorry this has happened to you and I hope for a full recovery. I would first get a x-ray and see what it shows. If the orthopedist can't see anything, he'll send you to get a MRI to determine the extent of your injury. You may first start with physical therapy to get the pain down. I would ask your orthopedist for suggestions on how to treat the fractured area. You may or may not be in a knee brace for a period of time to allow it to calm down. Hope this helps! |
