What does it mean when they say x-rays were negative? |
When athletes get hurt in pro sports, I hear them say that "x-rays were taken and were negative." What does that mean? To say that an Xray is negative is to say that there is no visible signs of illness, injury or disease process on x-rays taken. Nothing was broken. No major illness noted. When you hear that terminology in sports they are basically saying that the athletes injury whether it a sprained ankle, or a hamstring injury is not broken so when it checked on a x-ray they use the term negative instead of broken |
