Wrist "injury" question?

I'm a volleyball player so I am constantly using my wrist, well a few weeks ago I noticed a bump on my wrist; a few inches below my thumb. I figured that I just needed a break from training. And last night at practice the bump appeared again within just a few minutes. What's wrong with my wrist?

maybe bruised a blood vessel or something. just rest it. if it doesn't hurt, keep playing.

could be a jam or a twist. take a break

I think you need to go to the doctor so he can xray it.

You might have a cyst in your wrist joint. I know a guy who had to have a cyst in his wrist removed because it was really painful and swollen.

I don't know if that's exactly your problem, but it's one possibility.

It sounds like it might be a ganglia! you might want to go to the doctor.

It's a tendon causing the problem. You need to take naproxen 250-500 mgs depending on your weight, twice a day. You can get it over the counter without a prescription. Take it for 10 days even if the inflammation goes away sooner, so it doesn't come back.

I think it may be a cist...not sure about the spelling!
I have them too..on both of my wrists, you will find they are more visible when you put stess into the wrist!
It's not serious but you should get the doctor to look!

go to the doctor!! i would!

--hugs, n kisses-- merry xmas!

It could be a simple thing or even a serious one.. Just check it out with a doctor.. Better be on the safe side.. Cheers.. it'll be over soon..

Well my girlfriend had a bump like that and it turned out to be Carpal tunnel syndrome, The State of Michigan made her get both of her wrists operated on and now 6 years later she is having problems with her hands again, what ever you do don't let them cut on you cause it didn't work for my girlfriend, she will drop things cause she has no feeling at times. good luck

my wife is a transcriptionist ( types for a doctor) so she also works with her hands.

she gets a bump , actuly a cyst on her wrist every couple of years. She can actualy push it down back into her wrist but it will be back in a few hours.

basicly a build up of fluid. She has the doctor she works for pop it and remove the fluid with a needle.

aparently once you develope one it will keep coming back but it only gives her trouble every couple of years.

Depending if that's the same spot where u always bump the ball, the force of the impact b/w your wrist and the ball could cause your circulation to momentarily cut off, leaving a stream of blood cut off, and therefore swelling instantly in your wrist.

Here, try this;

Rub your knuckles hard on the inside of your forearm for about 20 seconds. Then punch your bicep of the same arm and watch it closely. If you did it right, it will swell immediately. This is b/c you got the blood flowing in your arm by the massage of your forearm, and then suddenly cut it off, leaving nowhere for the rush of blood to go.... thus a backup, hence the swelling.

Sweetie, something like that is not to be messed with. It could be very serious or nothing at all. Play it safe, use good judgement and "go to the doctor." If it turns out to be nothing at least you have your peace of mind. If it's something more serious then you didn't blow it off and wind up in a more serious state of condition. It's a warning sign that something is not right. Please go to the doctor and get it checked out. Your health means more than missing a game or two. I know you must love the sport or you wouldn't be in it. Make the right decision and see a doctor. You can get that out of the way by going to the emergency room right now. They have everything you need to take care of you on the spot. I hope it all turns out for the best for you. You can always hit me back and let me know what it was but that's entirely up to you. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

Hi, my daughter used to play volleyball too & on her wrist grew a cyst which the doctor said they could remove it but it would probably grow back. She used the product "Grapefruit Seed Extract," which she would rub on it. It eventually went away. Go see your doctor to find out what is going on with this bump. Hopefully it is just a Gangolin Cyst like my daughter had.
