Uh Oh. Wrist Injury?

Over the weekend i went snowboarding and i fell on my wrist (Sat.) it is still hurting.... i have it wrapped in an ace bandage, but simple tasks such as typing and writing hurt to do. Last night it was red and i iced it... but it didnt help much. I am still in pain. The pain is kinda just a continuous thing... if i push on it, it does hurt but not like a sharp pain or anything. kinda just like a sore never ending thing. do you think it is sprained? or broken? or something else?

i know i should go to a doctor but there is no way i can go until tomorrow. but i want to know what is going on. i will be greatful for any helpful answers :] thanks.

the wrist is starting to cramp up and stuff. and i am now getting sharp pains. what is happening to me????!!!!!????

there's a good chance that you broke it (i have a friend who snowboards and he has broken his wrist for the second time this past january--both times was when he messed up on a jump and put his hand out to break his fall). To be more accurate, you should try to recount the scene as you remember it...did you hear a snap (the bone breaking)?, and did it swell up almost immediately after the incident? It also sounds like the pain you're experiencing is "tenderness" (hurts constantly, and hurts more when it is in motion), a sign that it has been fractured. Other than that, only an x-ray can really tell if it is broken (my guess is that it is), so get it checked out as soon as possible (you have waited long enough, trust me. As for the meantime, keep it elevated by making a sling out of something (even better would be an actual sling), ice it (it helps in the long run to get swelling down), keep it wrapped in the ace bandage, STOP MOVING IT!

keep it as immobilized as you can....that's it until it is x-rayed.
