Does my wrist require medical attention? |
I hurt my wrist playing sports 9 days ago. It is very sore on the far left side of my right wrist, just on top of the wrist. The pain is inside the wrist, so it's not sensitive to the touch. It is not a sharp pain, but a dull ache, that is obviously worsened after doing tasks like writing or typing (which I'm obviously doing right now). Always ice the first 24 hours after an injury. Then alternate heat and cold with each compress lasting about 15 minutes. You should wear a wrist brace..not just an ace bandage. Make sure that the brace doesn't come higher than your palmar crease. (wave bye bye--where your hand is bent is the palmar crease) You'll want something made out of KoolFlex or Corflex so it's comfortable to wear all day. Patient compliance is key to healing. You have lots of teeny bones in your wrist so you should probably have it looked at just to be safe. Even if it's not broken, you could have stretched a tendon or sprained it badly. Sometimes sprains are worse than breaks. Just because you don't need a hard cast, doesn't mean you're ok. If it's due to an impact injury, it's probably NOT carpal tunnel. Navicular injuries will need a cast and post-cast bracing. You'll need to stabilize your thumb. If it's not getting worse, it's probably not that either. well, if you hear anything scraping, or crunching, it's definately a good idea to go to the doctor. I'm 24 and have carpal tunnel, and it wasn't evident until i fell on it and had to talk to the doctor because it still hurt. If it's getting better day by day... see if you can put some ice on it and elevate it when you're sleeping. at least resting it while you're sleeping will do it some good. It could be a bone bruise or it could be a break in the growth plate, that is what my granddaughter did in gymnastics and hid it from us for over a week afraid that she couldn't compete, the couch grabbed it during one of her practices and she screamed. we knew then and the Dr. told us if it didn't heal, the her arm wouldn't grow to normal size. so we were lucky no more damage was done. you really should get it checked out. better safe than sorry later. es it requires medical treatment !And leter on surgical also ! I think it is a CARPEL TUNNEL SYNDROME in which exactly at wrist joint pain swelling do occur and it worse while making use of wrist joint ! It is called tendinitis also ! First you should take medical treatment with suitable antibiotic and NSAID than if there is no response than it should be relieved by a surgical treatment ! It is very simple but before that you should do exercise also and hot water fomentation also !Always YouRsmE Your lesion sounds very straight forwards, like a stress fracture (linear) of the semilunar bone in the proximal or upper row of bones in the wrist (there are eight in total in the carpus)...the fracture can be diagnosed withproper X rays, however, those X rays can even look normal if there is an stress fracture...that is why a proper radiologist should do the interpretation of those...Ita bone stress fracture, you should be wearing a splind (cast) made od molded polycarbonate, or thermic polymers.. A very common injury is a fracture of the carpal navicular (also called scaphoid) bone. The normal mechanism of injury is falling on your outstretched hand. it sounds like its badly sprained i think you would know if it was broken! lol i would wear an elastic bandage soaked with witch hazel this should ease it |

you may have fractured your wrist because of the way you were pushing the forklift it may not have the balance to hold two people on it and maybe that's why it might be hurting right now... Okay, I had the same, buy a wrist support and some weights gloves as well, this provides a better grib, and obviously the support takes some of the pressure off your bones.
