Wrist pain...?

I'm very active (playing hockey, golf, racing Formula cars, and working out constantly) and have developed a nagging pain in my wrist. It's fine normally, but it's quite painful if I try to lift anything at an angle other than straight up. I've had enough injuries throughout my career to know that whatever this is isn't anything real serious, but I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of this. Thanks in advance.

It is possibly a form of tendonitis. The usual things you do for sports and overuse injuries should be tried first--rest (as much as you can) the wrist, ice 15 minutes 3-4 times a day, anti inflammatories (ibuprofen or naproxen) taken regularly, elevate the area and use a splint of some sort. If these do not resolve it in a week or two-see your care provider, you may need an xray to rule out a cyst or fracture.

most likely, it's a carpal tunnel type injury. use advil/alleve. rest the wrist. keep it elevated and try immobilization. the pain will continue as chronic, so follow up with your doctor for an xray or mri and physical therapy.

Actually, I suspect you are wrong. You could have Carpal Tunnel, or a greenstick fracture, or some other problem that will be debilitating as you grow older if you don't let a doctor treat it.

Yes, go to the doctor and get an x-ray. Sounds like you have a small fracture but you won't know for sure until you get that x-ray. You don't want to keep re-injuring it.
