I hurt my wrist at the end of april of this year. my doctor believed it was a hematoma so they didnt do much but just give me meds. but month went by and it wasnt going away and the pain was still there. so they did surgery aug 6. of this year. when the doctor went in to do surgery he realized why i was in so much pain. it was because the nerves was all tangled up. so it been like that for months. he said the nerves stopped working because it was all wrap up in the hematoma/died tissue. he said my hand, wrist and arm will become numb at times in my life. and i wont be able to feel anything in my fingers sometimes as well. so does that mean this is a permenant injury? is it because it was so long and the nerves wasnt working? woul this be similar like Carpel tunnel syndrome? Depends on which fingers and what side of your hand get numb to be like carpal tunnel syndrome, but with exercise and physiotherapy hopefully there would be some change. I recommend you visit a physical therapist. Your problem was not related to CTS. It sounds to have been a "neuroma." Most of these are removed intact and cause no future loss of function. You may have some discomfort at the site of the surgery, but shouldn't have any residual problem in your fingers or hand. If you do, return to your physician. If you are unhappy with the results of the surgery, have your attending or primary physician recommend another surgeon to evaluate your situation. |
