I'm 5'2" & weigh 94 lbs. I'm 26, would you say I am too thin?

I have always had a really small build. I eat normally (lots of fruit & veg., little meat, but I also love to bake (& eat)).

I went to a new gym today, & there were a lot of older/retired people there. This older guy came up to me & stood next to me while I was jogging, making me stop the treadmill & take off my ipod.
Then he says to me "have you been on a scale lately?"

I told him I don't own one (which is true) but my MD recently said I was fine. He then told a friend of his & she came up to me in the parking lot later & told me "you know, you look like you have an eating disorder, look at your wrist!!"

(doesn't that just prove I have a small frame? my wrist is 5")

Also, if I was 194 lbs, would they walk up to me in the gym & ask if I've been on a scale lately?

I'd like to hear from some petite girls out there! thx

well your definitley not fat.
if you were about 90lbs or less, than their's something wrong.

YES YOU ARE WAY TOO SKINNY

If your doctor says you are fine, don't worry. I have always been very small and many people are just made that way. As long as you are eating normally and your doc isn't worried, ignore ignorance.

I'm not a petite girl, but my girlfriend is. She's alittle taller than you about 5"3" and probably weighs about 100lbs. Her diet is horrendous and she compulsively exercises. She is too thin for her height.

But you eat normally, you exercise normally and your doctor says you are ok. Blow off the old guy, next time simply tell him you are dying of a brain tumor and there isn't much you can do. Nosy people deserve what they get.

And yes, if you weighed 194lbs they would come up and ask you if you have been on a scale lately, and did you know you needed to lose weight. You can't win that one.

You're fine, enjoy the blessings Nature gave you.

You might be consider small but as long as you eat healthy (sounds like you do) and have no medical problems (and your doctor said you were fine) --you are fine. We have all sizes of people. Be happy.

yea tht is normal for a person your height

check your bmi on the internet.

You should check your BMI (Body Mass Index) to indicate whether you're underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. I personally think that you should gain about 5 more lbs, no more, to look healthy and attractive.

Without seeing you, it's impossible to say, but from your description, you are very, very small.

Your BMI is 17.2, which puts you in the underweight range. Your wrist circumference indicates a small frame, but not THAT small - you are 19% under your on-paper ideal weight (of 116 lbs). The body weight at which you would be medically judged to be anorexic is 87lbs - if you are losing weight now, you should definitely worry.

I thought a long time about this answer - I am small myself, and I have friends who are very small, and I know what you mean about catching flak about "eating disorders" from people who don't know better.

HOWEVER - its not abnormal for people to say something about it: it's damn unusual for them to approach you in the parking lot about it.

I would recommend that you go back to your doctor, and ask him specifically if your body weight is healthy for your height, and whether, in his medical opinion, you should be trying to gain. At the end of the day, he's the expert...

I'm 5'2" and also have a small bone structure. I was about your weight at your age and a little on the thin side. 105 would look better and be healthier.
