My boyfriend has Lupus Disease and is looking somewhat old with wrinkles?

My boyfriend is only 21 yrs old and has Lupus Disease.
Lately he has been looking somewhat old! Well not real old but it looks like he is starting to get wrinkles now.

Could his Lupus Disease be the cause of that?

Thanks.

When i read this question, i was happy. My older brother has Lupus disease also and he looks somewhat older also. It could be the medication that you're boyfriend is taking as well as how his body is reacting to it. If he's talked to his doctor about it, they will know. Lupus may very well be the cause of the wrinkles but it could also be the medication.

Some signs and symptoms of lupus are: Rash,Arthritis,Kidney problems,Sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity). ,Brain or central nervous system problems,Heart problems,Lung problems.,Mucosal ulcers.Blood vessel disorders, fatigue, fever, swelling, hair loss, digestive problems, depression,Raynaud's phenomenon.. Looking old really isnt a sign of symptom of his disease however the stress/depression/medication can cause people to age quicker. I know 21 yr olds that look older then I do and Im 35

Is he losing weight also? Fast?
That will age you quick. Sorry to say, I know.
I am thrilled to lose weight, but not the wrong way.
Doesn't look so hot!
Hang with him -he needs your support.
Find out the answer. Maybe you could give him some of the oh so wonderful facial treatments we women keep to ourselves?? : ) worse case? It feels good!

Lupus causes pain. Many of us have a hard time sleeping even when we are not in pain. Lupus causes anxiety and depression. We worry about our future and wonder if we will have one. We mourn the loss of lots of hopes and dreams. We have to create a new normal for ourselves. That struggle may show up in our faces.

Lupus can affect every single organ in the body. In my case it was bone marrow, heart, lungs and kidneys. My first reaction to your question was outrage that you would be concerned about whether or not lupus cause wrinkles rather than the pain and possible life threatening complications or how you could best support him as he makes the constant adjustments required to live successfully with lupus.

Everybody gets wrinkles. Everybody gets old. That's just the way it is.

Hi, Im 40 with a rather severe case of Lupus, and have no wrinkles, and even live in SO CA, so possibly no. he may have had a lot of sun exposure, or may have ultra sensitive skin, or have the type of lupus that attacks only the skin called discoid Lupus. He should always wear 30+ sunscreen. and though funny for a male, if not allergic an antiwrinkle cream. but it may be that the lupus is really attacking his skin, and they are not really wrinkles, but some kind of Lupus rash, or discoid lupus rash, he should talk to his rhuemotologist or a dermatologist about his skin, to minimize damage, or stop it. There is a medication called plaquinil, they give that can help with some skin problems, and maybe some creams as well. But it is very well possible, the lupus is causing major skin issues. and that they are not wrinkles, unless his family wrinkles prematurly.

There are creams that won't make them go away but can reduce their appearance. I highly recommend Creme De La Mer. It's pricey but very good. My #1 suggestion to make wrinkles go away...
