How do you prevent pressure wounds? I mean PREVENT ALL TOGETHER!!!?

SCI 11 years now. Past two and a half years have been living hell. 8 pressure wounds over this time periode. Complete with Pick Line IV meds for 6 weeks. Insurence REFUSES to pay for proper pressure relief mattress. As in ROHO, and not some POS rented overlay. To which I already had but made wounds WORSE! Doctors call things in for me, and good old Medicare and Medicade refuses. I need to shead some light. My cost for being in the hospital for 6 weeks because of wounds that wound not heal.........PAY ATTENTION PLEASE....95 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! Cost of Roho Mattress to heal and therefor possibly prevent another reoccurence and possible death brought on by bone and blood infection....5 grand. Makes perfect sense don't it? So, since the goood old goverment won't help me, and I'm not famouse, nor rich.......I need SOMEONE to PLEASE help me find a way to stop this from happening to my body. There has got to be someone, somewhere, who knows something. Please help me.

It is standard procedure in hospitals today, when a person suffers a paralyzing spinal injury, to place that person on an alternating pressure mattress to avoid the occurance of pressure sores. Without this preventive treatment, immobile patients soon develop very serious pressure sores unless turned and moved every few minutes. Now, after almost 100 years of use, "alternating pressure" mattresses have proven that the only effective treatment in the prevention of pressure sores is "alternating pressure"!

When chair-bound people develop pressure sores and are unable to heal them, often that person is confined to a bed equipped with an alternating pressure mattress which promotes healing. After healing up, the person returns to his wheelchair and often has a recurrence of sores for the same reasons, with each incident becoming worse because of soft tissue loss and scar tissue formation.

We have made the "alternating pressure" preventative treatment available to chair bound people using microelectronics, miniaturized air pumps, plus recently developed power cells in a package that allows the benefits of the "Active Massage" Cushion to effectively prevent the conditions that lead to pressure sores.

The "Active Massage" Cushion consists of a supportive foam inner cushion which can be sculptured to suit individual needs. Over the top surface of the cushion is an overlay of air bladders that alternately inflate and deflate, directed by a miniature computer that directs the air pump, pressure sensing and timing mechanisms.

In operation, first one bladder array inflates, causing the user to be supported by the inflated bladders.

Don't put too much pressure on a body part for more than 2 hours. Make sure the surface is clean, no moisture as this will cause skin breakdown.
