Why are bugs attracted to wounds?

I went on vacation recently and a few days before I had an accident and I fell pretty badly on my knees. As I would lay down near the pool little flies and even bees were attracted exactly where I got hurt and tried going on the wounds. ( not all at the same time obviously)
It was really weird, I didn't know what to do about it.

cuz ur wounds got dead skin cells that is getting actually rotten and ur body is eliminating that so flies got attracted to that smell cuz they like to eat dicomposing, dead or rotten things

due to the blood which has an odour that bugs are atracted to its the same as mosqitoes are atracted to ur body smell ( sweat )

It was the odor of the blood that attracted them and not the wounds themselves. Next time you injure youself cover the wound with a bandaid before going outdoors. You don't anything laying eggs in an open cut, do ya?
