Are dishwashing soaps bad for wounds?

It's common knowledge that dishwashing soap, paste, etc. is poisonous when ingested. But what about when these products come into contact with wounds, with or without washing them off afterwards?

If you are washing dishes, try to find a more natural soap (Caldrea is more natural, yet still works very well, but it is pricey/ Dawn is used to clean animals caught in an oil spill, so it may at least be better than other brands) and wear gloves (Casabella has some great 100% Latex gloves with cotton flock liner- these fit my hands so much better and really protect them). As Sasha said, avoid actibacterial. Gloves will protect you from bacteria and such in the water. If you are washing your hands try to use hand soap. It will be much better for your skin and you can find some great natural lines (Chef's Planet is my favorite, it is all natural and comes with a foaming dispenser).

don't use anti-bacterial ones they are actually not good for your hands, same as handsoaps, for handsoap use the lotion ones
