Pulse/heartbeat on cuts/wounds?

How come you can feel your pulse/heartbeat on cuts/wounds?

On a cut, your nerves are more exposed therefore, you have heightened feelings like being able to feel your pulse, it's more sensitive to heat and pain also.

Less skin also means your pulse might be closer to the surface therefore more sensitive to nerves.
