Do wounds of people with diabetes heal?

Do wounds of people with diabetes heal?

Yes, but if that diabetes is undiagnosed or poorly controlled, healing will take much longer than in someone without diabetes. Slow healing is one of the signs they look for when taking a history of someone they suspect may have diabetes, or it may be reported by the patient.

This problem occurs because the high sugar content of the tissues interferes with the normal functioning of the immune system, which is what helps us to heal after infection or injury. It also relates to the affinity of many bacteria for high sugar concentrations; wounds that are slow to heal and are in tissues with high sugar concentration are a setup for problems like wound infections and wet gangrene.

yes

yes they do=it takes longer though and they have to be very concerned about infections

yes they just may take longer. and you need to watch it carefully for changes.

Yes, they heal but people with diabetes must constantly check for any cuts on their body before infections occur and turn into gangrene.

yes, they just sometimes heal more slowly than people without diabetes

probably

yep. Sometimes really fast too. It depends on how well the diabetes is controlled

yes.

IF you are under control.

It's very important to keep your A1C under 7
that's the three month test by the doctor

aim for under 100 per test when testing at home.

Yes. My wounds heal faster now than they did just prior to being diagnosed. My HbA1C is 5.8 or less, typically, nowadays. So a few of the above answerers are correct. It's all about how well you control your blood sugar. Poor sugar control = longer healing time and all sorts of other bad things. Good sugar control = live pretty much like anyone else.. maybe better.

It just takes a little longer and we are also more likely to get an infection.

Yes! If not every one with diabetes would be dead! If you are under control, you can live a wonderful, normal, perfect life. If not-well you know. You need to be very careful with your feet because the circulation isn't always so good, but otherwise don't worry! take care of your problems as though you didn't have a diabetes. Put some disinfectant on it and call it a day. You should watch for infecyion, but when anyone else gets a cut, they should to.
Best of luck!

Wounds heal with diabetes but take longer to heal.

Wounds of diabetic person heals so slow.
