Vasticular wounds question about infection? |
I have been up and down the hospital with terrible leisons on both my lower legs thought at first to be HSP, they now decided it is vasticular. I have been told to dress them and take the medication. This evening I took the dressings off and all the scabs came with it, and one of my legs stinks from the wound left. It is red and puffy round the outside and yellow in the actual wound. is this infected? what do i need to do? I have just had swabs taken on friday, on anti's to stop infection, using dresings hospital advised me to use Yes it sounds infected but you are already on antibiotics. Legs are difficult to treat especially if you have an underlying condition. You can always bathe the infected area with saline or cooled boiled water to take off some of the slough. Give the pills time to work. If your swabs come back with anything, the doctor will prescribe more drugs or keep you on the same ones depending on the result. Change dressing daily and always wash your hands before and after changing the dressing. Good luck. you need to see your doctor who can take a swab from the wound in order to see what the infection is and what antibiotics you may need to take. You may also need to use a different dressing. It is definately infected. There is a theory that some wounds need to be left open to the air. The wound needs to heal inside out though to speak. If it starts to heal over with a scab, and there is still infection underneath, you will get what you describe. Wounds need to be properly cleaned out with sterile solutions and equipment. Putting a dressing over and taking medication may not be sufficient to do the job. You need to go back the hospital. |
