Head wounds and infections? |
My mum (or mom) went into hospital a a week ago to get surgery to remove something from outside of her head, she went to the doctors to get the stitches out, then was told to call back yesterday (friday 15th) to check if there were stitches under the dry blood. She went and came back and my brother checked her head and it was lieing open (about 1/2 cm) and its rightly deep and you can see right down to the skull/bone. My brother was going to take her back to the hospital but she didnt want to go (fear of needles) so she didnt go, Whats the worst that can happen if she dosnt go to hospital. it could get infected badly!it could even get gangrene!(which we dont want)she needs to go get it fixed. if shes that afraid of needles(which is understandable i do too)ask to put her under a anesthetic via mouth(no needles invovled)and get that sewn back up. You got to get her back to the doctor. No wound that's open wide enough to see the skull is a good thing. Do NOT try to correct this problem in your home. She needs advanced medical care right now! infection.......and it might not shut back right it's good that she got the care to have it removed but she best not defeat the purpose and waste the operation She could get osteomyelitis of the skull bone, i.e. infection of the bone. She must be treated immediately. |

Every wound I've ever had has healed dramatically faster when left open to the air and let to dry. Bacteria tend to reproduce faster in a moist environment. ...try keeping triple antibiotic on the cut. it will help the cut to heal faster and soften the skin to help keep the skin from stretching(which might cause some of the itching). and yes, most wounds ... blood clots when exposed to air. Covering the wound for the first 24-48 hours keeps outside infection from getting in, but after that time period, your skin will benefit and heal quicker from being... Redness, heat, induration (the area around the wound being harder than the skin outside of the area). In addition, if the color of the drainage coming from the wound does not match the wound bed (... have you been checked for diabetics lately? you should. they say thats the first sign of a diabetic is that the cut or sore take a long time to heal. but at 26 i doubt it if your organs are failing... becuz the skin grows over it to cover the wound ...These are probably aphthous ulcers. Many people get them, often when they are experiencing stress. There are many causes for these sores and if you have fever, swollen glands or eye problems too... the healing process when the skin starts to rejoin causes that area to tingle thus giving rise to the itchy sensation ... |
