Can irrigating wounds spread infection? |
Can irrigation spread infection, for example MRSA? Would it damage reparing tissue? Are there any sites/journals to back this up? I can't find anything! Question #1: When irrigation is done correctly by licensed personnel, it doesn't spread infection. If you can't find information stating why a wound should not be irrigated, it's because there is no reason. Not all wounds need irrigation. Deending on the size, depth and condition of the wound bed, cleaning with normal saline and a gauze sponge is also sufficient. Report It |
