Why do Wounds on the Inside of my Mouth Heal faster?

I was really careless last week and bite myself while eating, but what I noticed is that the odd thing is, the wound on the inside of my mouth healed within 48hrs, while the cut on my finger did not heal in more than a week, Why?

Sorry to say this, but your mouth is a very dirty place. There are millions of bacteria that live in the mouth.

Saliva does not contain any disinfectant properties. It simply provided a moist, warm environment for your sore to heal.
The cut on your finger probably was not kept moist, which is fine either way.

something in your saliva kills germs.

just be glad it heal fast

excellent blood supply to your mouth speeds healing. fingers/toes are furthest from your heart (Blood supply). from an evolutionary perspective, you need your mouth to breath, drink and eat, so if it doesn't heal quickly you are in big trouble

somethink in your spit is like antibacterial why do you think dogs lick themselves and their cuts?it also keeps it moisturized(actually saturated!) hope this helps

It is because of natural disinfectants in the saliva that cause the wounds to heel faster! Even though it is produced in salivary glands, saliva is 98% water, but it contains many important substances, including electrolytes, mucus, antibacterial compounds and various enzymes. These substances help with the disinfecting of germs in the mouth even though it is believed to cause plaque. It also depends on the size of the wound if it is really small it will heel faster than if it was bigger!
