A surgical question. Having to do with Women's health.?

I have ovarian cysts and have already had an ultrasound to confirm them to my gyno. He wants to perform a Laparoscopy to "look around". I was just wondering if there are any other women on here that have the same/similar problem?

And what is a good website to get information about this condition?

I have not had the cysts, but I have had a Laparoscrpe and some tubes tied, so I can tell you that it was almost totally painless, and not to bad to recover from, they class it as non invasive surgery, clever stuff, better then long scars and stitches. Have a couple of friends who had cysts removed, they recovered very well, good luck!

Laparoscopy is minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, but it is still surgery and still hurts like hell for a couple days. They will put you under using general anesthesia, go in through your belly button and 1-3 other tiny port sites (depending on how many you personally need) and introduce instruments to destroy the cysts or treat whatever pelvic pathology is present (i.e., Endometriosis). I highly recommend reading this Lap Manual, which gives you a better understanding of the surgery as well as how to prepare, how to cope afterwards, etc. etc:
