Why are BAL (British Anti Lewisite) needles so painful?

I have Wilson's disease and neurologists say that i have copper in my brain which is affecting my nervous system. I've started taking BAL injections to remove the copper from my head. But they're so painful :( It's a 2 month course and I'm only in my 1st week.

I'm sorry you're in pain. It's because the injections are intramuscular - which hurts a lot more than just a plain old flu shot or something like that. Hang in there!
