I Think I have whooping cough, can anyone verify?

Well, my best friend has had whooping cough for a while now. I've started to develop cold symptoms for around a week, just after that week of cold symptoms i have developed a cough. right now the cough isn't very bad, when i started the cough i coughed about once or twice but now i cough arounf 4 or 5 times. So knowing all that could anyone be able to know if i do have the whooping cough?

Whooping cough is extremely contagious if you are not immune to it. Some studies have found that a few as fifty percent of immunized people will be provided with lifelong immunity. So, with that being said, you could very well have whooping cough if you have been exposed to your friend. One of the first symptoms is actually sneezing and then it will move onto cold symptoms. You will probably know soon if you actually have the disease. It presents will severe coughing often times to the point of turning blue and/or vomiting. Some people hear a whoop which is actually the sound that is made after a person inhales deeply after a long coughing fit. You can be tested for whooping cough at your doctor's office or hospital lab. They will swap the inside of your nose to get a sample and it takes four days for the results. However, many doctors are hesitant to test for it blaming the symptoms on a simple cough. Once you have the disease, it will simply have to run its course, but you will be given an antibiotic to prevent the spread to others. Hope this helps.
