Could i have whooping cough? |
ok so this week i stayed home sick from school for 3 days with symptoms like sore throught and stuffy nose and stuff so i thought i had strep... the i was better and went back to school. now i am coughing alot and my voice sounds as though i am congested even tho not and i havent had a voice since wed. now my school sent home a letter stating somebody had it and was being treated so i told my dad (me and everyone around me thought i had it when we read the letter) and i was just wondering if maybe i had it.... I am in high school and have been vaccinated when i was an infant but alot of high school students are getting it around my area. Your symptoms sound like bronchitis, but you should call your pcp for an appointment. if you are still in high school you were most likely vaccinated for whooping cough... so it is unlikely. You should go to the doctor, what you have to me sounds like an upper respiratory infection. Your lungs might even be congested which would make it hurt for you to breathe. With whooping cough you have a very distictive cough that sounds unmistakably like a 'whoop'. What you have sounds like a basic common virus. Keep warm, lots of fluids and Vit C and you will be back in action soon. antibiotics |
