Do you think its whooping cough? |
A week and a half ago I was home sick for 3 days. I had headaches, muscle pains and I just didn't feel right. A few days later I started coughing alot, I am still coughing! It's a terrible cough, I don't know whether to think it's a cold or something more serious. The only thing that makes me think it isn't a cold it that there is like no mucus to cough up, it's just a dry cough and an all day sort of cough, it gets worse at night when I lay down or when I laugh. Any suggestions as to what it might be? The only thing about the headaches is I constantly have headaches so it was nothing really new, I am going to a neurologist on thursday for headaches. I seriously doubt it's whooping cough. It sounds like bronchitis.Go see your Dr. you may need an antibiotic. if it kind of sounds like a seal its not...my lil brother had it I am NO doctor...but it sounds like a terrible case of the flu...i hope you start feeling better...maybe take some vitamin C and drink lots of juices...and take more vitamins...or herbal stuff... If you are coughing and nothing is coming up, then you might have pneumonia. Whooping cough has a very distinctive sound to the cough, hence the name, "whooping cough". I would see a physician, since you might need a prescription for the secondary bacterial infection that has set up in the fluid in your lungs. Once that clears, you will start coughig up the "junk". I had the samething, It sounds like you have a deep whoop when you cough. It's a virus going around and it takes a few weeks to actually get over it. If you go to the doctor they can give you an antibiotic to get rid of it faster. Its going around. You just have to ride it out. You can go see a physician but not much they can do for it. Run a vaporizer. A clean one. Make sure you stay active, so it does not rest so deep in your lungs, it turns into pneumonia. If you do decide to see a physician, they may recommend an inhaler. One thing that helps, have someone cup their hand and pat on your back firmly, to loosen the mucus. It possibly can loosen the phlegm out your lungs, so you can expel it. It will go away. Its just a strong strand. The cough is what lingers. If you have concerns beyond my suggestions. By all means, consult a physician. |
