I've been Coughing for 10 weeks, Dr's confirmed that i Have Whooping Cough. i have SEVERE rib pain. Broke?

I've went to the hospitel on my 7th week coughing, i thought my lung was colapsed or something. everything hurt so bad, just inhailing was a pain scale of 8.5. Coughing was a 10. they did a chest xray and said that it didnt turn into phnemonia. but said nothing about the rib pain. they was more worried about my breathing and getting my asthma under control. i told them that it hurt to bad to take deep breaths. now it's been 10 weeks of coughing til i gasp for air and my right ribs hurt worse and worse. car rides and trying to sleep is the worst. trying to use my muscles to turn over in bed causes severe sharp pain... i can tell that my muscles are sore but the added sharp pain has me thinking that somethings not quite right with my ribs. i called my dr about it and i get the same answer that there's nothing more they can do for me. "i just have to DEAL with it til the Coughing goes away." I'm tired of this pain, and tynonol and ibprophin doesnt seem to be working.

Any Dr's office that tells you that there is nothing more that they can do is an idiot. Find another Dr. Yes, it is possible to break a rib from coughing especially for so long. and they can do something about it first find out if it is broken, then bandage to support the rib and give you something for the pain stronger than Tylenol, it would also help your cough anyway I am not the Dr, but take your pillow across your chest and hold firmly, this is called "splinting and it may help some . I know how sore all those muscles are. They said whopping cough but maybe you now have a little pleurisy can't get a website right now for you but basically You can't even hardly breath with it. I doubt you have it but they could give you something for the pain especially to sleep with Good Luck and God Bless

Go to a emergency room now! They can perform an xray to be sure. Sounds like it's more than sore ribs to me! You might have a collapsed lung which is very serious!!!
