what is the mode of transmission Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious disease caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis; a similar, milder disease is caused by B. parapertussis. Worldwide, there are 30鈥?0 million pertussis cases and about 300,000 deaths per year (World Health Organization data). It happens in infants only and mode of it's transmission is direct contact with a suffering patient. It is a viral infection & there is no curative measures. Only symptoms are treated. Vaccination to counter this desease is available & it is given to infants but not much effective. |
