Please give me a nursing interventions of whooping cough?

are you a nursing student making a care plan?? I remember from nursing school that one of the main problems with pertussis is a thin membrane that can completely obstruct the airway, especially in kids. It is crucial not to do any type of invasive throat exam d/t the possibility of completely blocking the airway or causing bleeding. I do remember the professors saying to consider intubating to protect the airway, although I can't say that I've heard of that being done as a precaution in most cases.

it is contagious and is treated with antibiotics, cool mist tents ,bronchodialators ,fluids and cough suppressants

pertussis is a highly contagious disease affecting the upper respiratory system . It causes sever coughing over a long period of time. patient should be under a Dr. care and care givers should take Dr's. advice about to nurse the patient. may develop into pneumonia.
