Have I got whiplash?

I'm probably just paranoid, we were in a car accident yesterday when the car crashed into the left and right barriers on the main road, we were travelling at low speed - 40-50km/h. I went for a check up a couple of hours after the accident and they x-rayed me and said I was ok. Since the accident I've had pain in first my right shoulder, then my middle back around my spine and now today it's my lower shoulders, upper spine and neck (front side and back side). I've also experienced headaches today. Have I got whiplash, if so what do I need to do? Or if not should I take muscle relaxer and pain killer for bruising?

Ligeia - It was my own car and my husband was driving, there's no compo, this is purely for peace of mind

Yes sounds as though you have. Take ibruprofen to stop any inflammation, as long as you are not allergic to it. You can also take a mild pain killer if you feel you really need to. I had this a couple of months ago and the doctor told me there is no treatment just painkillers and anti inflams. Also told me to gently exercise the neck to stop it stiffening.

Sounds like compensation is setting in.

From what you have said it sounds very much like whiplash you need to go to your doctor to get this confirmed and will need a few days off work and rest. Paracetamol and ibronphenon but please get it checked out first with doctor.
this will help explain it better.

When you are involved in a traffic collision of any kind, your first reaction is to tense up. I have known of people to even have pain in their legs after a collision. The pain you are experiencing a normal reaction to hitting a wall. I wouldn't take a muscle relaxant unless it becomes unbearable. A pain reliever like Tylenol or Aleve will help you, just be careful to follow the directions on the bottle.

Sounds like it, I had whiplash a few months ago after an accident. Take antinflammatories. I had to go see my doctor to get stronger ones (ibuprofen wasnt working) which cleared it up within a month or so.
