Best reason to appeal for exams when I have a whiplash injury?

I was involved in a fairly bad motor vehicle accident two days ago. My car was rear-ended by a tailgater at about 50-60 km/hr and I consequently am suffering a whiplash injury.

I have my final exams for school beginning tomorrow. I am considering appealing on the grounds that my neck is in a moderate amount of pain, I have a decreased range of motion in my neck and am still in shock. My short term memory seems to be affected also; as my first exam is English, I am worried I will not be able to perform to the best of my ability.

I will apply for 'misadventure' and unforseen circumstances, but should I emphasise my physical injury and/or mention the trauma I am still in?

I'm 18, got my licence 6 months ago, the accident was not my fault and was driving by myself. I was really scared :(

Please help me!

YES...apply for special consideration - speak to your year level co-ordinator and make sure you tell them everything. This includes the pain, discomfort, shock, memory loss etc. The more you tell them the more chance you've got of getting special consideration....Make sure you tell the truth - don't over exaggerate and get a medical report to back you up.
Good luck

try getting a doctor's report

Simply state the facts. You had an accident, for which you were not at fault, and have sustained injuries that will affect your performance in your examinations.

A doctor's note will also help to support your valid case, as will the fact that you may be taking pain killing medications that may cause drowsiness and other side effects.

Would suggest you get this condition treated early to prevent excessive inflammatory process from setting in. This type of injury responds very well to Chiropractic care. Perhaps you can procure a note from the doc to fortify your position regarding the injury. It can play havoc with the thinking processes too.. Is more than just shock.. as the blood supply to the brain has been reduced because of the severe tension of the musculature pulling vertebrae out of position. The blood supply to the brain has to pass through the holes in one of those vertebrae. So is not unusual to have cloudy thinking with this type of injury.
