After-market wheelchair lift?

I recently got married, and my wife is in a wheelchair. She cannot transfer into a car, so she has a Chevy van with an aftermarket wheelchair lift installed. Frankly, neither the van nor the lift are in great shap. In fact, I've been told that her lift - a Ricon - is a bottom-of-the-barrel brand.

Obviously, when the time comes to replace the vehicle and/or lift, it's going to be a major expenditure. So that I can start planning for it, how much does an aftermarket lift usually cost, what is a good brand/model to get, and what factors should I consider in deciding which one to get?

Also, any experience on which vans might be better than others for installing such a lift?

John, I researched your question and found these web sites. Congratulations on your marriage

I tried to find a company that evaluates these lifts to no avail. I also tried to find the top name brands, no luck
If I might be so bold as to recommend checking out these two web sites, maybe if you start looking now, someone will have what you are looking for

Everything on freecycle is free, if you don't see what you need, then sign up and post what you need. Just remember later on when you have items around the house that you no longer use, post them on freecycle and someone out there can use them. I'm uncertain how often that you would have to re-post, but it will be worth it in the long run.
Good Luck and Congratulations to you and your bride
