How to transfer wheelchair bound people into cars?

I need pictorial guides to train the caregiver/ maid of my semi paralegic elderly mum to transfer her from bed to wheelchair and into a car

if she doesnt know how she should not be your moms caregiver she could hurt your mom or herself (which would make you responsible) she legally should not perform hands on care without being certified.

Get a device called a patient lift from a medical equipment company. This is sometimes refered to as a hoyer lift. This device has a sling attached to it to cradle the patient. If your Mom has insurance, the device is usually covered by insurance with an Doctor's prescription.

It is a handy device that will save the backs of the person or caregiver helping your mom.

To see what I refering to go to INVACARE.com and look up patient lift. I am sure you will be able to find some pictures of it in use on the internet.

Hope this helps you. God Bless you for caring for your Mom!! I know how much I Love mine.

I am the full time carer to my partner of 11 years who is a quadreplegic. I agree that any carer should already be trained in back care (their own) and tranfers (either using a hoist or manual).
Having said that, I'm sure there must be a guide somewhere on the net. I know there are some in the rehab hospital locally.. maybe give thema phone and see if they have any short courses running.

only trained people should be doing this kind of work. There are STNA classes that are only two weeks long that stress this kind of transfers. Your caregiver should be trained on ways to help prevent hurting themself and your elderly Mum.

dump em in

follow the nurse's instructions above me, ive been in medical field for 10yrs, she's def right!
