How to become a wheelchair athlete? |
How does one get started in wheelchair sports? I've been disabled for 11 years and I'm sick of being lazy. I would love to try to train for maybe something like a 5K or smaller? I have no clue where to start. Any ideas? (I'm in the DC area). Thanks! well get yourself into rehab and let them do an evaluation then go to a medical supply stores and get yourself a custom running wheelchair which are a three large wheels with two besides you and one out front or a sport chair which has a steeper wheel angles which stick out more and then you get out there to local races join clubs if you use a wheelchair or not you can still compete that is what the ada is here for you to help you compete with the amplatory oh and have fun and try not to break a leg |
