Borders Bookstore refuses disabled to recharge wheelchair...?

Has anyone heard this story? I live in San Diego and I heard that a San Diego Borders unplugged a wheelchair and refused a disabled person to charge their chair during the fires and esentially put them out of the store. Then the person chair didn't have enough charge to get them home....I wanted to get more info ....does anyone know about this. I've looked and asked around and can't find anything.

About 3 weeks ago San Diego County had the worst wild fires in history. 11,000 acres just within in the city limits and many people were in the city andin stores to escape the smoke. I wondered if that was what the disabled person was doing when there chair ran out of power.

I saw this question someplace else and posted the following answer!!
Oh I read about this on one of my Polio groups. This really happened to one of our members. It was just recently...If I remember correctly she went there to buy a magazine and her scooter was out of juice and the store was really busy so she plugged in but they unplugged her and told her she couldn't do that and I guess the clerk even was rude to her. She can walk to a limited degree,,,she got enough juice in it to get out of the store and half way across the street and then sort of pushed it a couple blocks until some young men in a truck helped her. It was a trumatic experience if I remember right.
The story was on a PPS polio yahoo group

while that sounds cold hearted of them they are under no legal obligation to let that guy use there electricity

I use a power chair and have ran low on power away from home before. I have never been refused the conveince of charging at whatever store I happened to be at the time. No they were not obligated to let me. I don't know if the story of the Borders store is true or not.

PS: I live in Oklahoma
