West nile virus with cancer??? |
in the county i live in there hav been 3 recorded cases of west nile virus in the last few weeks and in the newspaper it said that it wasnt a big threat to people with healthy immune systems but it could be VERY serious to people without good immune systms. im considered immune supressed cuz i hav cml and im only 12 so im outside alot and im really worried about possibly getting west nile virus. what r the chances of me getting west nile virus?? is there anything i can do to prevent it?? please help!! Wear long sleeved shirts, long pants, closed shoes with socks. Wear Deet and put it on often since it wears out after a short while. Wear a hat. If you work in the yard, wear gloves. When the weather cools, the mosquitoes will disappear and you won't have to be so careful then. Do be careful. My dad is very ill fighting for his life in ICU and it's suspected it's West Nile. He has encephalitis (swelling of the brain) and it's quite serious. Check out West Nile and the 2007 outbreak areas for either Can. or the US where ever you are. Search for West Nile and look for the official government site. |
