Can pets contract the west Nile virus ?? |
If a Dog or a cat get's bitten by a mosquito that has west nile can they get infected ? Yes, however, infection rates in epidemic areas are low. WNV does not usually cause severe illness. I would assume so. It affects birds and people? If your pet acts weird take them to the vet . Most vets will let you call and ask questions without a charge Yes your pets can easily contract West Nile. Birds and horses especially. Horses can be vaccinated but I'm not sure about birds. Check with your vet. They can, and there are also vaccines. Its very rare and not much of a reason to worry. ABSOLUTELY.EVEN BIRDS |
