Do I have West Nile Virus? Help please!?

I was playing GameCube when a tiny mosquito came a gave me a VERY PAINFUL BITE. It bled a bit and is still really red. It throbs, I nearly passed out, I have a fever, I am vomiting, I have diherea, I have a stiff neck and muscle aches and I can barely walk. Is this West Nile or just the flu?

Mild disease, generally called West Nile fever, has some or all of the following symptoms:
* Fever
* Headache
* Back pain
* Muscle aches
* Lack of appetite
* Sore throat
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Abdominal pain
* Diarrhea
These symptoms usually last for 3 to 6 days.
With more severe disease, the following symptoms can also be seen and require prompt attention:
* Muscle weakness
* Stiff neck
* Confusion or change in clarity of thinking
* Loss of consciousness
Consult your doctor.

See a DOCTOR........and GOOD LUCK :)

You are willing your body to give yourself these symptoms. What is it ...hypochondriac?

Uh oh... sounds suspicious. Go to the emergency room right away.

id go see a doctor ASAP

why are you asking on here? go to the doctor

I'm not sure about West Nile Virus but deffinately go see a doctor... that's never good no matter what it is. Yahoo answers is a place that can help if you wanted to know more about it but if you're really sick, waiting too long to see a doctor could be detrimental.

You might, but you will not know for sure until you get it checked up with a doctor. My advice would be to go to the hospital as soon as possible!

Q. What are the symptoms of West Nile virus (WNV) infection?
A. Infection with WNV can be asymptomtic (no symptoms), or can lead to West Nile fever or severe West Nile disease.

It is estimated that about 20% of people who become infected with WNV will develop West Nile fever. Symptoms include fever, headache, tiredness, and body aches, occasionally with a skin rash (on the trunk of the body) and swollen lymph glands. While the illness can be as short as a few days, even healthy people have reported being sick for several weeks.

The symptoms of severe disease (also called neuroinvasive disease, such as West Nile encephalitis or meningitis or West Nile poliomyelitis) include headache, high fever, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness, and paralysis. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 150 persons infected with the West Nile virus will develop a more severe form of disease. Serious illness can occur in people of any age, however people over age 50 and some immunocompromised persons (for example, transplant patients) are at the highest risk for getting severely ill when infected with WNV.

Most people (about 4 out of 5) who are infected with West Nile virus will not develop any type of illness (an asymptomatic infection), however you cannot know ahead of time if you'll get sick or not when infected.

Now would be the time to get off the computer and take yourself to the emergency room. Diseases passed by mosquito can be very dangerous, as can any disease, but it sounds to me like you need some help. Whether it is West Nile or not, i can't say, but it's nothing to laugh at either.

oh my god .... well mosquitos do fly from coast to coast and they may have alot of diffrent dieseases.... get the phone and call the paramedics or to save some money have someone drive you to the ER..... NOW!!! good luck i wish you the best....
